BiFold Leather Wallet | Hand Stitched | Made in the USA
Bi-fold Leather Wallet is 100% hand-stitched to last a lifetime and made with you in mind. After years of market research, we designed a leather billfold wallet that is easy to use and can hold the right amount of cards and cash. The majority of the men we talked to commented and complained about the durability and quality of their wallets.
Our wallets are not the most economical wallets, but they have been designed and constructed to last many decades. Since we make these wallets by hand, we can modify them. Some customers have modified our wallets by having us add an ID window, more/less card slots, unique colors…etc.
Our standard Bi-fold in made with full grain vegetable tanned leather with 12 credit card capacity and a lined cash-notes sleeve.

Making a Handmade Leather Wallet: Gatto-1
Each of our Gatto-1 leather* wallets are handcrafted in the USA and are only made-to-order.
The following is a high-level view point of how we will make your wallet!
Once your order is placed; We gather all the components and/or order the items we need from our US suppliers.
First step is cutting a 12” x 12” square piece of 1.5 oz piece of leather from a vegetable tanned hide that we have in stock. Then we hand-dye the leather using our water-based ink that we normally import from Italy, which we will allow to dry for about a day or two depending on the weather. The reason why we let the dye and sit for a few days is to make sure the leather has stabilized and will not warp or shrink. Once the piece of leather is dry we hand-apply a coat of either acrylic coating if we want a shiny and stiff feel, or Mink Oil if we want a soft hand feel. We allow the pieces to set and dry for a day or two prior to cutting.
To maintain our high-quality standard for this wallet; We die-cut all the panels using a manual shop press. This allows us to make consistent leather parts ensuring we make beautiful looking and durable handmade wallets.
After all the panels have been cut, we stamp our Maker’s Mark into the inner credit card sleeve or on the back side (or the outer panel) and we glue our liner into the panels that will make the cash note compartment. All this is done prior hand-stitching any of the panels.
Once the inner panel (which contains the credit card sleeves) and outer panel have been glued together, we allow the wallet to rest for three day or so to make sure the non-toxic PVA glue cures.
At this point the wallet is coming together and starting to look like the final product……
The next step is to remove the excess glue, trim and sand the edges to have a flat edge in preparation for the edge ink process.
In order to hand-stitch this wallet we need to edge-score the wallet, which we have a tool specifically made for this step in the process. The edge-score tool cuts a channel in the leather for the pricking iron we use to punch the stitch holes. This channel also helps protect the stitching thread by allowing the thread to sit at or below the leather surface.
How do we stitch this wallet? We use two size no. 4 needles, 0.6mm Ritza Tiger thread and a stitch pony. Yes, this does take time but the superiority of the saddle stitch is worth the time, effort and cost!
Once stitched, we then sand the edges of the wallet to be as smooth as possible in preparation for the edge paint base coat. The majority of the time one base coat will suffice to obtain a smooth edge surface…..if not, then we sand it down with fine sandpaper and re-coat with the base coat and allow to dry.
After the base coat has been allowed to dry we then add the final edge paint, which we apply by hand using a roller pen, then allow to dry for two days or more depending on ambient temperature.
Before we ship any of our product including our wallets we do a final QC inspection. If for any reason we feel our wallets are not suitable to be send out, we will remake it.
The Gatto-1 wallet is and looks 100% handmade. Designed and built to last. Handcrafted especially for you and not mass produced. We pride ourselves in knowing who this wallet will be going to.
